Ageing is something that theoretically concerns every human being, in the short or long term. Ageing is a natural process that is generally characterized by the decline of several physical and psychological function of the human body. These functions can be seeing, hearing, speaking and writing, or moving. Most elderly will encounter, due to standard effects of age, difficulties comparable to the one encountered by persons affected by the different types of disabilities seen above, with varying degrees of deficiency. The most common being sight decline.

If nowadays only 24% of the UK population above 65 uses the Internet regularly, it is most likely that this value will increase in the coming decades, as today’s major users of the internet will age (Office for National Statistics, 2007).
